The real-people rules vary more than any other field. At one end, a vendor allows no media of anyone other than the user. At the other, a vendor's only rule is a publicity-rights clause. In between are consent rules, deception rules and harm rules.

For drama, consent is the common thread: written consent from anyone recognizable satisfies the widest range of these texts. Fame does not substitute for it, and several texts name celebrities and public figures to make that clear.

Satire is contested. Two texts limit their impersonation bans to non-satirical uses; one says parody gives no cover without consent.
