Where the red lines live in a vendor's documents

Vendors spread their rules across several documents: terms of service, a usage or acceptable use policy, community guidelines, help centre pages, and sometimes a child safety page. The same vendor can put its age rule in the terms, its content categories in a usage policy and its practical limits in a help article. Vendors spread their rules across several documents: terms of service, a usage or acceptable use policy, community guidelines, help centre pages, and sometimes a child safety page. The same vendor can put its age rule in the terms, its content categories in a usage policy and its practical limits in a help article.

For a production, that means reading more than one page. In this register, one vendor's two documents disagree on age, and another's most useful limits live only in help pages, where the company-wide policy says nothing about prominent people at all.

The rating pages record which document each statement came from, so a reader can go straight to the page that says the most.

2The making side of the policy

Policy wording in “Where the red lines live in a vendor's documents” meets production here; SceneMixer's pages describe its side like this:

A line lives inside the shot where it is spoken, in four parts: the speaker chip, the delivery note in round brackets, the words after the colon, and the voice chip after the words.

That is SceneMixer's core design: characters live in a persistent asset library with locked reference art, and every segment that features a character is generated against those references — same face in episode 1 and episode 50.
